Getting Voip at another location

Getting Voip at another location

Hello,I am new to the world of Voip.I would like to switch my business land line and go with Voip. My problem is that I have Road Runner at home and am using two routers and a repeater to send signal across the street  to a lap top with WiFI where my shop is located. How could I get voip service without another modem at the shop.

Voip across the street

Try either a Magic Jack or Skype with a USB device (Magic Jack is the less expensive of the two).  Either solution will allow you to use a standard phone attached to your device, as long as it is getting good internet connectivity.  You did not indicate if your wireless was b, g, or n.  N would probably be best.

I have a setup where I share internet from my sister, 4 houses down the street.  Have two access points connected to two cantennas, then another router at my house to distribute the wireless to my laptops and voip phone. Have had poor succes with voip over this link.  I think there is just too much latency over the wireless connection.  You could try it, maybe you have better equipment.Brian
